iDo Kicks-off a Community Bench Project at Thurgood Marshall High School

This fall, the iDo team is working with a computer arts class at Thurgood Marshall High School to design and build a community bench that will be gifted to the school. The Community Bench project introduces students to the design process and fabrication methodologies used in the field of design. This product will incorporate ergonomic, symbolic, material, structural, and manufacturing issues. Portions of the bench will be manufactured with the Design and Industry Departments computer numeric control manufacturing system, allowing high school students the opportunity to witness advanced technology in the realization of their design. iDo wants to inspire the next generation of students while helping them to better understand what design is and its effect on our lives.

Check back frequently at <http://design.sfsu.edu/ido/ for updates about the progress of the project as it unfolds.

Sincerely,
Team iDo
